started off with colossals, of course.

after a pretty uneventful roadtrip, we rolled into Charleston in the middle of a giant downpour. not uncommon at all for the South, and usually I like them, but when you're wanting to walk down on the Battery it becomes a hindrance...we stopped by my old house, the one i lived in from when i was about a year old until i was seven.
then we caught a beautiful rainbow while on our way downtown. thennnn it started pouring again so all hopes of walking on the Battery were shot.
after we left downtown, we found a panera and got some food, then went to our hotel. however, we ended up going to the wrong Fairfield, hahaha, and had to take alllll of our stuff back to the car and drive 10 more miles down the road. by the time we got there and ate we were exhausted. what a show. but did you expect anything else from us? we clearly struggle.
Saturday we got up and went to the Market for some shopping.
thennnn we went to Folly Beach! oh. it was so good. we brought along Chick Fil A and had a little picnic. but the BEST part was that the water was soooo warm and the beach is so flat down by the water. i just loved it.
that evening we had dinner at Bubba Gump and walked down by the riverfront.
Sunday started off great because we had South Carolina shaped waffles for breakfast. HOW COOL IS THAT. thennnn we went to church at my old building in Charleston. lots...of memories at this place.
it started pouring, naturally, so we sat in my car downtown for a long time, then it started letting up so we got out and walked to Magnolias for lunch. nomnomnom
we left Charleston and headed to a little town near Orangeburg called Springfield. this is where my Grandpa Morgan was born and raised, and where a lot of the extended Morgan family has lived/lives. my mom's first cousin Marty did some renovations on my Great-Grandma's house and lives there now with his wife. i remember coming to this house when i was a little girl to see my great aunt and uncle, pre-renovation. legend has it that when Sherman was marching through the South, one of his deputies ordered all the homes in the county burned to the ground-and this one was the only one to survive.
Marty and his wife were so kind to spend the afternoon with us. i've been working on my DAR application and needed to take some photos of some of the gravestones in the Morgan family cemetery. unless you know exactly where to go, its hard to get to. a lot of the Morgan men were Freemasons, if you can tell at all by the symbol on the headstone, and Maj. Joseph Hargrove Morgan served in the Civil War, along with some other extended family. hence the Confederate flags. apparently the Daughters of the Confederacy came by recently and put flags on veterans graves.
the Morgan family crest and some old photos of my grandpa. the first one is him with his brothers.
we went on to Columbia and drove by my grandparents house, then to the hotel to eat pizza, share a Coke, and watch some Stabler on "SVU" :)
Monday we drove home-longggg roadtrip, and we couldn't take a picture of us with the "Liz" Coke to save our lives, hahaha
the best part was we stopped in Virginia Beach because the Gibbys were there, and i got to spend half an hour with my boys :) i love them so. Daniel came out to the yard with us to pick zucchini :)
i had the best time showing my best friend around my home state. and i always hate leaving.
