Some of you may know I am running the Marine Corps Marathon in about five weeks. I am beyond excited. I have been wanting to run this race in honor of my Grandpa Morgan, and this past spring I decided it was the right time and signed myself up. It has been really fun to watch myself get stronger every week and to be at the point where a 15 mile run does not seem daunting. Running really does become addicting. The moments where I have struggled, I think of my grandpa and his fellow Marines from all generations fighting to protect our country. I am running this race to say thank you.

with my sweet grandpa. he is my favorite :) |
And lucky for me I am training in one of the most walkable cities in America. The trail I run on goes along side the Potomac River, from Mt. Vernon all the way to downtown DC. I get on the trail near National Airport and take it up across the 14th Street Bridge, past the Jefferson Memorial, and then down the Mall to Lincoln and back up past WWII and Washington, before heading back. I do my long runs on Saturday mornings, and while it has been rough sacrificing my only day of the week to sleep in (since we have church at the horrible hour of 8am), I have really enjoyed the peace and beauty of a quiet Mall.
