catch up: April to September.

Okay. It has been a long time since I've blogged, and I'll admit, I put it off because things kept happening and I kept getting backed up...

So, my goal with this post is to do a brief recap on all the events of the past several months, instead of doing separate posts for all of the events. Here we go...

EASTER
This past April, Ben, Jessica and the boys flew out to DC for a visit. We celebrated Easter/General Conference, visited the usual places in DC, and just enjoyed being together. Love these boys. (and Ben and Jess too)

OPENING DAY
I don't think this requires much explanation. Great Day. Favorite game. Favorite city.

ARIZONA
The third weekend in April most of the family gathered in Mesa for Noah's teacher ordination. We had a really great time together shopping (where dad fell asleep watching our purses), eating, and going on a sunset walk in the Superstition Mountains. I love this fam of mine.

ACCIDENT
Mars and I went to NYC for a quick weekend to eat, and on the way back, 20 minutes away from DC, we got in a bad accident. My car was totaled, and I broke one of my ribs...Obviously not something good. But luckily other than my rib we were okay, and I got a new car. Anyway. That happened. RIP Lester :(

OBX Memorial Day
Another great long weekend with friends, sun, surf, and the like.

MARS GOODBYE/BRIDAL SHOWER
I guess getting married is a legitimate reason to move, but it didn't make saying goodbye to this girl any easier. I'll be forever grateful that Marissa texted me two years ago after her apt was robbed, asking if her and her roommates could take the avail rooms in my house. I esp loved being dayclubbers with her these past several months. For her last weekend we ate Cafe Rio, Sugar Shack, and our goodbye dinner at Founding Farmers. Walked around DC. You know, the usual. Later in July we had her bridal shower at our house which was donut themed.

LONDON/PARIS
The last time I went overseas was to London and Paris in November 2013, so you would think the next time I went overseas I would go somewhere different. But no...given the opportunity to go back, for a cheap ticket, and a free place to stay I jumped at it. Also, to travel with G, who is my fave. What a great trip...we had perfect weather and had such a good time.

CALIFORNIA
5 days after I got back from Europe I left for the West Coast for a three week trip. First I went to California and had the MOST FUN EVER with my family. SO MUCH FUN. Seriously. I can't stress enough how much I love these cuties. They are my life.

UTAH
I went to Salt Lake from California for Marissa and Chance's wedding. There was no way I would miss this event-I witnessed their relationship blossom, and was so happy that things worked out for them. It was also a great opportunity to see my grandma and meet up with some very dear friends, Heather and C. The wedding was just beautiful, such a lovely day.

Little League World Series
Brittany Cogbill had told me back in July that she was headed to the Little League World Series in August, and I invited myself because duh. A group of us drove up to Williamsport Friday afternoon, saw a few games that night, camped in a state park, roasted pop tarts for breakfast, then saw two more games before driving home. It was so fun watching young boys play baseball with so much passion. Also, the scenery and sunset were GORGEOUS-I couldn't get over how pretty everything was. Really fun weekend.

Lauren and Jackie
The week that I returned from out west, I began packing all my belongings in preparation to move to another house in Arlington on Aug 29th. I had to start so early because that next week before I was to move, LAUREN AND JACKIE CAME TO VISIT. Guys. We had the very best week. Nats, shopping in Georgetown, going to NYC, biking the monuments on the Mall...We laughed the entire week. Really, we did. SO grateful for these friendships.

OBX Labor Day
I went through the always fun experience of moving, and then it was time for Labor Day weekend at the beach. And you know I can't pass the beach up...So I abandoned all the unpacking that needed to be done, and KB and I drove down to Nags Head Thursday night. And the weekend was just what I needed-a time to relax at the beach and pool, with good friends who I hadn't seen in a while. Not a lot going on except for spending time together. Had a cloudy, stormy night that was kind of breathtaking. One night, 8 of us drove down to the southern tip of the island and took the ferry over to Okracoke Island where Blackbeard the pirate is rumored to have lived. It was so fun being on the water, and then once we were on the island we got a kite out and frolicked around for a while. There was absolutely no one on the beach and the sun was setting-it was incredible.  That night may have been my fave from the weekend. Oh, and since we were in Rodanthe we of course had to go find the house from the Nicholas Sparks movie, hahha. You'll always have my heart, OBX.
