The Fourth of July is my favorite holiday. Obviously. So in my house it is celebrated all week long, duh.
this year I continued my tradition of having a pre-Independence Day celebration at my house and made sugar cookies, cheesecake filled strawberries and birthday cake for Marissa.
the next night, July 2nd, the friends went to the Nats game to watch baseball and post-game fireworks.
Independence Day eve we were planning to watch the dress rehearsal of the Capitol Fourth concert, but it rained, so we ate in Chinatown instead.
the day was finally here! Whitney came to the Nationals game with me.
after the Nats game, we all gathered at the boys house to have a BBQ. lots of good food, friends, and a corn hole tourney.
some of us metroed to Arlington Cemetery and walked across Memorial Bridge to watch fireworks at the Lincoln Memorial.
we had some time to kill so just chilled and took pics.
we decided to just walk home after the fireworks. the boys only live about 2.5 miles or so from the Lincoln, so we walked back across the Mem Bridge and down on Washington Blvd along side the Pentagon. im glad we did-i was not in the mood to fight a ton of people on Metro.
after we got back i met my roommates and some people at Bob and Ediths for some late night pancakes. whats more American than eating at a diner after watching fireworks on the Fourth of July?
blessed to celebrate my favorite holiday in my favorite city and my favorite country.
posted this video last year, but its too powerful and important not to post. we are a lucky people
God Bless America.
