I am of the opinion that Labor Day Duck is wayyyy better than Memorial Day Duck, but that may just be my personality. There are WAY less people there and things are generally more relaxed and fun. This weekend that we went there were only about 3 houses, all from DC, and 2 of them weren't even full. It made for a really nice time. We had a really good house with good people in it. We all got along, personalities meshed well, and we were able to relax and do our thing without having to worry about parties and meeting a bunch of new people.
Colleen Ethan and I had Friday off, so we drove down that afternoon. we stopped in Virginia Beach for the night because our house wasn't open until Saturday afternoon, and there aren't many hotels down in the OBX.
we had a nice hotel on the oceanfront, so Colleen and i went for a run. it was SUCH a good run, and who can beat this view?
after we got pizza, we went back to hotel to chill in the JACUZZI that was INSIDE our room. yes, the room. not the bathroom. the room. we sat and i ate my ice cream and we watched the BYU game.
the next morning Colleen had to work for a while, and then we drove down to Corolla. it was about 3ish when we got there, so we went straight to the beach to hang out with everyone for a while. guys. the beach...is just the best. Colleen dragged me on another run, but before hand we drove to Wings to get some OBX gear, and my hair went crazy. nothin better.
Ethan collapsed in the ocean and scratched his back up on the rocks, so he asked Whit to put aloe on it and then blow, hahhaah i died.
Sunday we went to the little branch in Nags Head and pretty much doubled the attendance, haha. later that afternoon I was going down to the beach with Whit to walk and talk, and she was outside waiting for me. i looked down the hall and saw her in the window of the door and died laughing. idk why it was so funny.
beautiful sunset Sunday night from our back deck.
crazy hair, compliments of the ocean breeze. what am i talking about...my hair is always crazy. #haireverywherealways
got up early on Labor Day to see the sunrise. i had gone to bed around 4am, so only slept for a couple hours. but it was so worth it. how gorgeous is this?
Monday morning consisted of a morning workout for the boys....lol. Thomas and Ethan doing diamond pushups, and i guess Jordan's stretching? hahaha
i love ALL of these people and would cram into a hot tub with them any day.
Tuesday was WAY more chill than the other days because a lot of people had to leave Monday night to be back at work. we made one more trip to the ocean. its so hard to say goodbye!
hung out at the pool for a while before we hit the road. Thomas and the other guys had a great time doing stunts/pool races with the inflatable dolphin, which produced a lot of laughs.
the beach fam!
I've said it before, but I'll say it again...nothing makes me happier than being at the beach with good friends. Well, except maybe being at Nats Park during a playoff game (can you tell where my mind is right now? GO NATS). This was the perfect thing to do to close out the summer. A busy, busy summer that was also one of the best i've had in recent years. Took lots of trips, spent almost every day at the pool with Natalie (#working), and didn't let anything bother me. I am grateful for seasons, and especially summer.
I wonder how Summer 2015 will be. But for now, Summer 2014 is reigning champion for best summer since I moved back to DC. Show me what you got Fall.
