Back in March, my sister began dating one of her coworkers Dave. They ended up coming out to DC for Mothers Day, so we could all meet him. I remember thinking he was a nice guy, and soooo much different from her ex-husband...then a few months later, she surprised us by saying they were getting married! Wah! So we all blocked off the second weekend in September on our calendars, for a beach wedding in California.
got my nails done white-wasn't sure this was kosher for a wedding, but people assured me it was okay. glad, because i REALLY liked them.
getting to California the Thursday before the wedding was tortuous...a very long story i don't want to go over, but just know i ended up getting to OC only 30 minutes later than my ticket originally said. SO blessed. Jess and Gavyn picked me up and then we picked up Ben and had lunch at In-n-Out. :)
mom and dad arrived from Arizona with Ryan and Noah, and we had a big family watch party for the BYU game that was that night. its so rare that we are all together so we were soaking this in. we also celebrated dad's 60th birthday, and i played TMNT Monopoly with the boys.
Friday was Disneyland! it was about a bajillion degrees, but we still had a good time together. i saw an emoji shirt, and spent a lot of time with Gavyn, because i wasn't really in a rollercoaster mood. my favorite thing was probably getting to go on Dumbo with him :) the last pic is one of my faves...we were getting on the tram to head back to our cars, when i looked back and saw all five of my nephews sitting together in a row. i love them all so much.
Saturday was a busy day, and it all began with the boys soccer game! their team name is the Lava Samurai :) little cuties. Grandma Price and Aunt Alison had arrived late the night before so we got to see them.
the girls were off to get nails and hair done! so fun. when the lady was blowdying my hair, she had to have another lady come over and help her because there's so much of it -___- story of my life...
so after Jess and I did some H&M shopping (oops), we realized that we had to get home QUICK to change and for me to make the bouquet for Rebecca (...). i had told her i would make the bouquet for her way before she even started dating Dave, because, you know, one semester of Floral Design at BYU makes me an expert...and then once i got to CA Jess and I kept forgetting that we had to go find flowers to make it work. im the worst. i literally walked up to the counter in the flower shop and was like "um my sister is getting married in 90 minutes i need some flowers". FAIL. but with all the fails and time restraints, it actually ended up being a cute little guy.
they held their little ceremony in a pavilion on Dana Point looking over the ocean, with dad officiating i guess you would say. mostly just family and a few friends. it was a simple, beautiful ceremony.
after pictures (of course) we all went over to Macaroni Grill. i got to sit by the cutest little guy i have ever ever seen and had a great time. family, good food, good conversation...few things are better.
Sunday morning i went in to get Gavyn and Daniel followed me in...caught maybe my fave pic from the weekend...i just love these boys and their brotherly love.
we all went to sacrament meeting at Ben's ward before going our separate ways.
i took Monday off and drove up to the Bay Area with my Aunt Alison on Sunday afternoon. i have never been to Northern California, at least being old enough to remember, and i was SUPER excited to see San Francisco for the first time and spend time with my Aunt. of the 4 members of my dads immediate family, my aunt is the only one i resemble at all. we are both crazy and laugh a lot and my dad...well, if you know my dad at all you know he isn't crazy and doesn't laugh a lot. neither did my grandpa and my grandma is just the sweetest little lady. love them all, but sometimes i wonder where if i got any of my personality from the Price side, and i know i did from my Aunt A. i just love her.
we had a great time on Monday-we drove by the Oakland Temple and AT&T Park, then went to the pier and saw the seals. and ate at Boudin.
we then drove up to the Marin Headlands to get a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge. it was a BEAUTIFUL day and was incredible to see something so iconic in person.
we had a hilarious time going around in circles in Sausalito (GPS fail), then went back into the city to walk some more. we couldn't decide what to eat, so we just went and got ice cream. only logical solution...
i had a late red eye back to DC, which is my new favorite thing. since all of my family is on the west coast, i so often on weekend trips have to leave in the early afternoon on Sunday to get back to DC that night-since the flight is around 5 hours and you have to add 3 hours for the time change. but now i always take a red eye and can spend 6-7 more hours with my family. worth it, i think-i can endure a day at work where i'm a zombie for that extra time. anyway, i didn't have a direct flight, which DID suck, so here i am trying to rest while on the floor of the airport in Detroit.
i always enjoy my trips to California-but this one was special. i am SO happy for my dear sister. the more i hear about Dave the more impressed with him, and the more im convinced that he is right for my sister and for her sons. i am grateful that he is in our family now. <3
