NYC, 2.0

When I went to NYC in July with my roommates, I found a full, calf-length skirt at H&M that I fell in love with. I immediately thought it would be perfect for my sisters upcoming wedding. But the location I was at didn't have my size. Throughout the course of the weekend I must have looked in about 5 or 6 H&Ms in Manhattan for my size in this skirt. No luck.

I came back to DC and looked at every location close to me: Old Town, Woodbridge, Tysons, Georgetown, Metro Center...NO LUCK.

My next thought was "maybe I should just take another weekend trip to NYC and hope they have it somewhere there". You know, logical. I was mentioning this to Ethan and he was like, "Yes, let's go." That's where the idea for this weekend trip to New York came from.

Then, a friend told me to try the new location that opened up on Connecticut Ave, which I didn't know about. I took Nat one day on a clothes field trip and we FOUND IT. Hallelujah.

Even though we found my skirt, we decided to go to NYC anyway because, well, we can. So we started planning. H was supposed to go Labor Day weekend when we were all at the beach and it fell through, so I told her about our trip and she was in, of course. Whit was in too, but Marissa was going to be in Italy.

we left Friday the 5th after i got off work. i had told Ethan the night before i was going to fit everything i needed for the weekend in this bag. he didn't believe me, but I DID IT. major accomplishment over here. im usually a big overpacker.

we drove in Ethan's old car up to the city, because his sister was going to buy it from him. tender Impala Dean, we will miss her. we stopped to get pizza, and while it was cooking H and I sat out on the hood of the car. then we went on to our hotel, the Westin at Grand Central.

the next morning we all got up to go running in Central Park. Ethan and H ended up going way ahead of us because they wanted to run the full loop, and Whit and I...did not. ha. i was so glad Whit was there to run with me...4 miles was enough for us. H left early to go meet a friend for lunch, and Whit and I spent about 40 minutes waiting for Ethan to finish running. we were just chillin around the southeast corner of the park, stretching and wishing we had water, when a random parade began coming down 5th ave. then we realized it was probably a Labor Day parade. so exciting!

our afternoon was really busy...Whit and I went to go see "Wicked" when H and Ethan saw "If, Then". YOU GUYS. it was my first time seeing "Wicked" and i LOVED. IT.  a great, interesting story and incredible music. ultimate Broadway show. right after our shows were finished, we met up and hurried to subway to Yankee Stadium because we had tix to the game against the Royals!!! i was so excited because this was my first time at new Yankee Stadium. i had been to the original in 2007, when dad took me to see a Subway Series game against the Mets for my graduation gift. we got there in the 5th inning, so saw about half the game, which was perfect. so glad we were able to do this! after a lot of miscommunication and no cell service and rushing on the subway, we ended up seeing a night show last minute. we saw "Pippin" and it was...interesting. i'll say this...the acrobats were incredible! im always amazed by people who have talent like that.

sunday we were split up most of the day because H and Whit spent most of their day rushing for tickets for the matinee show, then SEEING their matinee show, and were taking a later bus than Ethan and I. we decided against a matinee, and went to brunch then church up in Harlem before packing up our stuff and going home to DC.

Another weekend in NYC, another good time. I am grateful to have such good friends that will go on so many random trips with me. And don't worry...we're already planning our next trip. Of course...
